Tips for the cheapest car insurance

Everyone I've spoken to is paying well over what they should be for car, motorbike, house and pretty much every other bit of insurance known to man kind. So I have decided to make a small list of top tips to try help you all lower your premiums.

These tips are for car insurance. I'll post about others at a later date.

First things first. Find the best company. Don't take take the first company you see, look around, compare and find the most suitable insurance for you. Make sure you're only paying for what you'll use and nothing more. The key thing for comparing insurance is to compare 'like for like' cover. This is because cover can vary dramatically over different companies.

Secondly, make sure that only the drivers that are going to be on the policy are named drivers. More can always be added at a later date if needed.

One important thing to note, PROTECT YOUR CLAIMS. It will increase your premium slightly, however if anything was to happen, you'd be so grateful you took this advise. It would save your premium hundreds. Make sure to double check the definition of protect your claims with each insurer as it can vary widely.
